This track is one of my first concepting/experimenting sessions for the film. I sent Ross several extended tracks like this of me creating different sounds and textures while we tried to hone in on exactly what the film should sound like. We had the idea that the soundtrack should be quite rough, natural, and organic sounding and the cello immediately became a focal point due to the fact that I don't play cello at all. The cello was used to create everything from melodic themes to textural ambience to percussive rhythms. In this track I was primarily experimenting with my sound palette, playing with tension and working out how different sounds should be integrated together. I hope you enjoy this snapshot into our creative process.
